Movie review

Hacksaw Ridge
Rated R
Genre War/true story
Time period WWII

Hacksaw Ridge is about a young man Desmond Doss. Doss has a pretty ruff life seeing that he almost killed his brother and has an alcoholic because of WWI. Doss meets a girl named Dorothy after a man has severed artery because of a truck falling on his leg. Desmond uses a pretty cringe worthy pick up line to ask Dorothy out. Dorothy falls for  Desmond because shes never met anyone like Desmond. Doss asks Dorothy to marry him after he said he was enlisting as a medic. "While everyone  is taking life I'm going to be saving it. With the world so set on tearing it self apart. Doesn't seem so bad to me to put a little bit back together." Desmond joins and everyone gives him a hard time after he will not pick up a rifle due to an incident with his father vows never to touch a gun again. They get him court marshaled and beaten by his whole squad. Yet he stays. His father who fought with one of the generals in France during WWI gets a letter supporting Desmond saying that he is not using the second amendment right to bear arms and is legible to go into the hell fire of battle without a single weapon to protect himself. Desmond goes to Okinawa on Hacksaw Ridge. Btw why it's called Hacksaw ridge is the men who went over there the ridge got there life's cut short. Hence the name. As they get on the ridge they are immediately ambushed but still proceed forward. The next morning they are ambushed by 1,000's of Japs and have to go retreat. But not doss, He goes back and saves 75 wound men Quoting " God please help me get one more. " The sergeant who got him court marshaled says "You've done more than any man could have done I hope you can forgive me." Doss goes over the ridge again and this time gets wounded but captures the ridge. I recommend this movie so much just by me describing it you get connected to the character. It's incredibly inspiring to see a man risk his own life to save 75 others. He's better than Forrest Gump who saved about five people sprinting at the enemy. P.S. At the time of writing this I'm watching the movie.

  1. Hey man! Great blog and I haven’t seen all of the movie only a few parts but it’s a bit spoiler-ish but other than that it’s a really good blog and I might have to watch it now.
